"We have the expertise, the drive and the vision to make Secure Healthcare the blueprint for excellence in prisoner and offender healthcare"

How do we achieve this?

We Provide and Manage Integrated Healthcare Services

As an individual comes under our care we take responsibility for the co-ordination of all aspects of that individual’s mental and physical well-being, both in the short and longer term, using a managed care approach. We assess and then monitor an individual’s health and welfare throughout their time in the Criminal Justice System utilising the extensive network of healthcare services and facilities recruited specifically for this purpose including providing a follow-up programme after release from prison.

All our primary healthcare services are provided and co-ordinated by a Healthcare Team led by a Healthcare Manager. The team includes nursing and administrative staff as well as specialists as necessary according to the service need, eg. counsellors, drug workers and social workers. Medical sessions are supplied by arrangement with a Primary Care Practice or by directly employed medical staff.

The team provides 24-hour professional nursing and medical primary care including dispensing of medication, treatment of minor injuries, triage services, release planning and aftercare, daily primary care clinics, chronic disease management, health promotion, emergency care on-site or on-call, inpatient and observation units and day care services as required.

In addition, Secure Healthcare oversees pharmacy distribution and healthcare services including dentistry, substance misuse and mental health services, optometry and dietetics.
